ETOPIM 7 Conference Venue and Group pic ...
The conference venue was Dockside, a purpose-bulit conference venue, right on the waters' edge on Darling Harbour. With both conference hotels accessed via footbridges, the Welcome Reception held on the northern end of Darling Harbour, the conference dinner on the southern end, shops and restaurants galore on both sides of Darling Harbour, there was a village feel about the proximity of conference events. The city is just a short walk away from Cockle Bay Wharf and the mononrail linked the venues with wider tourist sites in the City of Sydney.
ETOPIM is an inter-disciplinary conference and collaborators found that the organising committee had created time in a busy program where those from different application areas could come together to exchange ideas on common theoretical, numerical and experimental techniques and solutions. Dockside provided tables in the balcony alcoves for such lunch-time discusssion and the weather was perfect, with warm sunshine challenging the idea that this was in fact Winter!
